Story

My cat song. A filker has to do at least one, right?

Lyrics

Well I’ve got a big two-legged one
He feeds me pretty well
He skritches me behind the ears
And sometimes tugs my tail

My brother and I have a pretty good home
Except for one little thing
Every time we want attention
The guy is always busy reading

There’s books on the table and books on the shelf
And Heaven forbid I should knock one off
Books on the table and on the floor
I just can’t stand the books no more

Well I love to take a little swipe
Whenever he turns the page
All I want’s a little fun
But I get a hand in my face

The weirdest part is how he changes
With whatever he’s reading now
He’s nice when he reads Charles Schultz
But I wish he’d put that Nieztsche down!

There’s books on the table and books on the shelf
And Heaven forbid I should knock one off
Books on the table and on the floor
I just can’t stand the books no more

I park myself upon his lap
Between the eyes and words
I like to munch on dust jackets
Especially the glossy ones

I found myself a hiding place
All you see is my eyes
I lurk behind the paperbacks
‘til he walks by, then--Surprise!

No books on the table, no books on the shelf
In my enthusiasm I knocked them off
Books on every square foot of the carpet
This happens when you mix books and pets
